Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 70 people including BNP Joint Secretary General Mujibur Rahman Sarwar in the capital in the last 24 hours. Mujibur Rahman Sarwar was arrested from Mohammadpur last Thursday night.
Mujibur Rahman Sarwar was arrested on Saturday in connection with the clash with the police during the BNP conference. When he was produced in court on Friday, the court ordered him to be sent to jail.
Sources related to the court say that in the last 24 hours (from 3 pm yesterday Thursday to 3 pm today Friday) DMP arrested one person from Sutrapur Police Station, eight from Gandaria Police Station, one from New Market Police Station, one from Sabuj Bagh Police Station, one from Tejgaon Shilpanchal Police Station, four from Ramna Police Station.
Two in Shahbag police station, five in Pallabi police station, two in Bhashantek police station, five in Paltan police station, seven in Shajahanpur police station, one in Mirpur police station, one in Shah Ali police station, one in Bhatara police station, five in Badda police station, five in Banshal police station, 12 in Chawkbazar police station, three in Uttara West police station. Police arrested one person from Dakshin Khan police station, one from Jatrabari police station and three BNP leaders from Demra police station.
